1. Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Interface: o Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and the R&D team. Facilitate clear communication to ensure customer requirements are accurately captured and documented.
Requirement Analysis:
o Analyse and translate customer requirements into system specifications, identifying key technical challenges and potential risks.
Technical Collaboration:
o Engage in technical discussions with customers and multidisciplinary teams (Mechanical, Electrical) to develop optimized hardware/mechanical architectures. Acquisition Support: o Actively participate in acquisition activities such as RFI, RFQ, and PoC, offering insights and proposing solutions based on customer expectations.
Design Review:
o Conduct and participate in design reviews with customers, ensuring alignment on technical aspects with support from the global engineering team.
Documentation & Presentations:
o Ensure the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation. Prepare and deliver product presentations as needed.
Issue Resolution:
o Address and resolve customer concerns and product issues throughout the product lifecycle, applying lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Project Management:
o Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
Value Engineering:
o Collaborate with system and software architects to review and innovate hardware or mechanical architecture concepts for value engineering.
Team Collaboration:
o Work closely with Engineers from Singapore and China. Work with purchasing teams to localize critical components, such as housings and PCBs, for product development.
2. Skills & Requirements
- Technical Proficiency:
- o Comprehensive knowledge of automotive mechanical engineering principles, particularly in the design and development of plastic components.
- o Experience required in product design and development for automotive components, including instrument clusters, infotainment systems, driver displays, climate control units,
- USB chargers, wireless chargers, and cockpit domain controllers.
- o Expert in interpreting 2D drawings and applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles, with the ability to convert these into 3D models to ensure precision in fit and finish.
- o Proficient in thermal and mechanical simulations essential for validating and optimizing designs.
- o Strong expertise in validation and verification processes specific to automotive products.
- o Hands-on experience with plastic manufacturing methods and material selection for automotive applications.
- o Proficient in DFMEA and DRBFM methodologies for early identification of design risks and failures.
- o Expertise in using CAD tools such as UG and CATIA V5/V6 within OEM environments.
- o Skilled in tolerance stack-up analysis to assess the cumulative impact of part tolerances on assembly quality and performance.
- o Experience in managing mechanical requirements at both customer and system levels.
- o Capable of performing mechanical verification tests to ensure product compliance and requirement fulfillment.
