Job Purpose:
GreenCell Mobility is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Manager - Procurement (Import) to lead and optimize our international procurement operations. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and executing import procurement strategies for critical materials and services, especially those related to electric vehicle (EV) components and infrastructure. The Manager will ensure compliance with global trade regulations, foster strong international supplier relationships, mitigate supply chain risks, and drive cost efficiencies to support GreenCell Mobility's rapid growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive import procurement strategies that align with GreenCell Mobility's business objectives, focusing on cost optimization, quality assurance, and supply chain resilience for EV components (e.g., batteries, power electronics, charging infrastructure parts) and services.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential international suppliers, leading complex contract negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements.
- Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key global suppliers, managing their performance through rigorous KPIs and regular business reviews.
Import Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure strict compliance with all international trade regulations, customs laws, tariffs, and relevant import/export documentation for all imported goods into India.
- Stay continuously updated on changes in global trade policies, regulatory frameworks, and geopolitical factors that could impact the import supply chain.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, logistical, quality, and financial risks related to international procurement.
Cost Optimization & Market Intelligence:
- Analyze global market trends, pricing dynamics, and raw material fluctuations to inform strategic purchasing decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement robust cost-control measures and drive value engineering initiatives within the import procurement process.
- Manage and monitor procurement budgets for import activities, ensuring financial efficiency.
Inventory & Logistics Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with logistics, supply chain, and warehouse teams to optimize inventory levels of imported goods, manage lead times, and ensure efficient inbound logistics and customs clearance processes.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and quality control of imported products upon arrival.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration:
- Serve as a key liaison between procurement and internal stakeholders including R&D, engineering, manufacturing, finance, and operations to understand material requirements and ensure alignment of procurement activities with production schedules and project timelines.
- Provide timely updates to stakeholders on import procurement status, potential issues, and mitigation plans.
Reporting & Performance Analysis:
- Develop, prepare, and present comprehensive reports on import procurement metrics, supplier performance, cost savings, and market trends to senior management.
- Utilize advanced data analytics to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and decision-making.
Team Leadership (if applicable):
- (If leading a team) Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of import procurement professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
Experience:
- Minimum of 8-12 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years specifically focused on international/import procurement, preferably within the automotive, electric vehicle (EV), or heavy manufacturing industries.
- Proven track record of managing significant import volumes and value, including critical components.
Domain Expertise:
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs processes (Indian Customs in particular), Incoterms, and global logistics.
- In-depth knowledge of EV components, sub-assemblies, and the global EV supply chain landscape.
Skills:
- Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills with a proven ability to secure favorable terms.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and advanced Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively interact with global suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
