Mainframe Systems Programmer - CICS

Role Overview: You will be responsible for backup and recovery processes and tools related to databases. Your role will involve having a strong understanding of database knowledge, including logical and physical design. You should also have experience in troubleshooting database performance issues and be familiar with query tuning concepts. As part of your responsibilities, you will perform various data management tasks such as loading, unloading, updating, restoring, and removing data to maintain the accuracy of the database. Additionally, you will be required to carry out Database Maintenance activities like Adhoc Reorgs, Runstats, and monitor scheduled maintenance activities based on demands from application teams. Key Responsibilities: - Perform data management tasks such as loading, unloading, updating, restoring, and removing data to ensure the accuracy of the database. - Conduct Database Maintenance activities like Adhoc Reorgs, Runstats, and monitor scheduled maintenance activities as per application team requirements. - Monitor and manage space within the databases by purging obsolete data, reclaiming space, and troubleshooting high-priority database issues. - Monitor database backups, maintenance jobs, and troubleshoot job failures in collaboration with the Operations team. - Monitor databases for unusual activities or restrictive states, periodically check logs for issues, and refresh Dev/Test databases with production backup images as requested. - Work in a collaborative multi-client environment, and be prepared for off-hours support and participation in an on-call schedule when required. Qualifications Required: - Strong understanding of database knowledge, including logical and physical design. - Experience in troubleshooting database performance issues and familiarity with query tuning concepts. - Knowledge of Cobol Programming and familiarity with Database Third-party Software tools such as Omegamon, Tmon, BMC Suite, and CA DB2 Toolset will be advantageous. - Ability to work on platforms including z/os DB2 and IMS, with bonus platforms being IDMS, Adabase, Supra, System 2000, and Datacom.,
