Mainframe System Programmer-z/OS

As a Mainframe Systems Programmer at our company, you will be responsible for providing support for ongoing projects that involve the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and system software. Your role will also include maintenance and debugging of systems software, coordination of IOGEN work for new MF hardware, research and evaluation of new software and hardware products, and assisting team members with technical questions and problem resolution. Additionally, you will be involved in monitoring and tuning of systems software, utilizing functional knowledge of z/OS components, and detailed understanding of support products such as tape management, scheduling, security, and monitoring systems. Your key responsibilities will include: - Consistently providing proven, formal mentorship - Taking ownership of high complexity assignments - Owning moderate complexity assignments (1 or more) - Providing oversight/review for low complexity assignments - Leading self and others, acting as a Product SME or specialist - Understanding how the overall picture aligns with the Ensono strategy - Providing thought leadership within GTS - Offering Technical Architect storage support for HW and SW Software solutions - Utilizing strong communication skills to participate in Client meetings and new business deals - Collaborating directly with Hardware and Software vendors on new solutions - Reviewing and analyzing current client software and requirements to determine cost-effective and standard software solutions for business proposals - Enhancing the performance of others through mentoring and guidance - Designing automated monitoring techniques for problem identification and prevention - Providing and documenting problem analysis, resolution, and prevention, designing procedures and best practice techniques This position does not have direct reports but may involve mentoring less experienced associates in the role. As for qualifications, the following are required: - Ten years of hands-on/industry experience Preferred qualifications include: - Ability to perform the skill set of a Mainframe System Programmer - Ability to perform complex ISV installations - Ability to perform and lead complex projects - Ability to mentor and demonstrate leadership qualities Please note that specific hiring needs may vary by location, industry, client, internal department, and other business-related factors.
