Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 subsystems on z/OS.
Perform database performance monitoring and tuning (buffer pool tuning, SQL optimization, etc.).
Administer DB2 utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD, COPY, etc.).
Manage schema changes, object creation, and DDL/DML execution.
Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize efficient database structures.
Implement and maintain disaster recovery procedures, backups, and restore processes.
Conduct capacity planning and database growth analysis.
Maintain database security, user access controls, and compliance with data policies.
Troubleshoot and resolve DB2-related performance and availability issues.
Work with storage and system administrators to ensure optimal infrastructure support.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide support during off-hours when needed.
Document processes, configurations, and best practices.
