Role Overview:

• We are seeking an experienced Linux & Kubernetes Administrator (Level 2) with strong Ansible Automation expertise to support, manage, and optimize our hybrid IT infrastructure. The role involves day-to-day administration of Linux servers, Kubernetes clusters, clustered compute environments (GPU/CPU), and automation of operational tasks using Ansible. The candidate will be responsible for designing and managing Linux-based clustered environments, including GlusterFS-based shared storage, and ensuring stable, scalable compute infrastructure for AI/ML and container workloads. Knowledge of SUSE Linux (to support SAP environments) and database hosting on Linux platforms is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Linux Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, Amazon Linux, SUSE).
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and security configurations.
• Configure and manage system services (DNS, SMTP, NTP, SSH, etc.).
• Perform OS patching, kernel upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Monitor server health, performance, and resource utilization; troubleshoot OS, network, and storage issues.
• Implement and verify backup and recovery strategies.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and contribute to documentation and the knowledge base.

Cluster & HCI Environment Management

• Design, deploy, and manage Linux-based GPU and CPU cluster environments for compute-intensive workloads.
• Implement combined storage using GlusterFS to pool local disks into one shared storage volume across nodes.
• Manage cluster orchestration through:
• Slurm for batch AI/ML jobs, and
• Kubernetes for containerized workloads.
• Integrate clusters with existing HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure) platforms where applicable.
• Ensure cluster scalability, availability, and performance optimization.
• Support database hosting and administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SAP DB, etc.) on Linux platforms.
• Preferred experience with SUSE Linux for SAP environment support, system optimization, and maintenance.

Kubernetes Administration

• Deploy, manage, and maintain Kubernetes clusters across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Manage containerized workloads and applications using Helm, Operators, and Ingress controllers.
• Configure namespaces, RBAC, networking, and storage classes.
• Perform cluster upgrades, patching, and backup/recovery operations.
• Integrate monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Ensure security compliance and adherence to Kubernetes best practices.
• Support CI/CD integration for application deployments.

Ansible Automation

• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and templates for automation of Linux and Kubernetes tasks.
• Automate patch management, configuration enforcement, and deployment workflows.
• Integrate Ansible with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation.
• Work with Ansible Tower / AWX for enterprise-grade automation management.
• Troubleshoot and optimize automation scripts for consistency and performance.

Infrastructure & Support Activities

• Support server provisioning, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure deployment.
• Provide L2-level support for Linux, Kubernetes, cluster, and automation issues.
• Collaborate with IT, Cloud, DevOps, and Security teams to maintain environment reliability.
• Participate in change, incident, and problem management processes.
• Ensure minimal downtime and proper coordination during maintenance or patching activities.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 35 years of IT infrastructure experience with a strong focus on Linux administration, Kubernetes operations, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/SUSE and cluster environments.
• Proven experience in Linux-based GPU/CPU cluster setup, HCI integration, and GlusterFS storage management.
• Experience with Slurm for batch AI/ML workload management.
• In-depth understanding of Kubernetes for containerised workload orchestration.
• Strong automation background using Ansible / Ansible Tower / AWX.
• Scripting proficiency in Shell, YAML, and preferably Python.
• Experience with database hosting and performance tuning on Linux.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Basic understanding of networking, load balancing, and security hardening.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an advantage.
• Certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, CKA, Ansible) are preferred but not mandatory.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Effective communication and coordination abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional DevOps and Infrastructure teams.
• Highly reliable, self-driven, and proactive in resolving issues.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and handle on-call or emergency support as needed.
