Linux Engineer

Job description-

Primary tasks

a) Develop and implement Services and Solution based on various Linux systems with special focus on automatization

b) Monitor performance and health of Linux infrastructure to ensure system availability and reliability

c) Supervise proactive / reactive identification and remediation of incidents and /or weaknesses detected on systems in Scope

d) Continuously monitor capacity state and ensure that measures are applied before insufficient capacity is affecting the performance and health of the systems in scope.

e) Ensure that all systems are secure and protected from malware by managing regular system maintenance, removing unnecessary software and ensuring utility and warranty of defined security controls

f) Manage the execution of service continuity tests according to defined playbooks

g) Collaborate with other teams to implement infrastructure changes and/or updates and compile/provide necessary trainings

h) Manage all stages of the system’s lifecycle and contribute to cost planning / tracking including CMDB and relevant documentation. Propose and implement improvements whenever applicable

i) Continuously investigate on new solutions and propose improvements if applicable

Competencies

a) Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

b) Proven experience as an IT Linux Engineer or in a similar role.

c) Good knowledge of typical Linux products like e.g. RedHat, Ansible, Foreman, Suse, Ubuntu, ...

d) Experience with cloud networking and virtualization technologies

e) Strong understanding of Linux infrastructure in an enterprise environment and nearby hardware. f) Experience with Linux automatization tools and protocols.

g) Proficiency in troubleshooting (Linux related) IT infrastructure issues and performing root cause analysis.

h) Knowledge of IT infrastructure security practices and procedures.

i) Familiarity with scripting environments (e.g., Python, Bash, Teraform) for automation

j) ITIL knowledge

k) Demonstrates an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.

l) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

m)Ability to work in a team-oriented and agile environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

n) Willingness to travel

o) English language minimum on B2 level
