Lead Software Engineer - Test Automation

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and community banking - wealth management, you play a crucial role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your primary responsibility lies in devising innovative software solutions, conducting technical troubleshooting, and contributing creatively to the development process by going beyond conventional approaches to problem-solving. In this role, you are expected to develop high-quality production code, review code from other team members, and constantly seek opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues for enhanced operational stability of software applications and systems. Moreover, you will lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented discussions on architectural designs and technical applicability within the existing systems and information architecture framework. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will also take the lead in fostering communities of practice within Software Engineering to promote the adoption of new and cutting-edge technologies, thereby contributing to a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and mutual respect within the team. To be successful in this role, you should have formal training or certification in software engineering concepts along with a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability. Proficiency in at least one programming language, coupled with expertise in automation and continuous delivery methods, is essential. Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar are required, alongside hands-on experience with frameworks like Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, RestAssured, etc. A deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud platforms is crucial for this role, in addition to prior experience in conducting Proof of Concept activities and evaluating emerging technologies. Your expertise in designing testing strategies for distributed, scalable systems like Microservices, APIs, Web Apps, and Mobile Apps will be invaluable, along with knowledge of BDD/TDD practices and experience with tools like Cucumber.,
