Lead Software Engineer

As a dedicated, enthusiastic, and passionate lead software engineer at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), your role is critical in ensuring the continuity, stability, and modernization of the custom index platform product. You will be responsible for various aspects of the system, working both individually and leading a small team of engineers. Your focus on code quality, unit testing, and automated testing is crucial, along with mentoring junior team members to enhance their skills and capabilities. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the technical maintenance and enhancement of a legacy system, ensuring its health, performance, and reliability, including incident response and root cause analysis. - Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable, and secure code based on requirements or User Stories within an agile team environment. - Collaborate with the Scrum Master, Product Owner, and management to deliver complex features and strategic initiatives. - Ensure the delivery of reliable, robust software through the creation and execution of automated tests, emphasizing quality. - Review work of peers and junior developers, providing guidance to benefit the team's development. - Analyze development requirements, provide design options, work breakdown, estimates, and agree on delivery methods in refinement and planning sessions. - Provide technical support to operations or other development teams and maintain necessary documentation for supportability and reuse. - Assist in implementing improvements to prevent problems and contribute to problem resolution workflow. **Key Relationships:** - Development Manager and Team Lead - Scrum Master, members of the Scrum Team (Development and QA) - Product Owner and internal customers responsible for the index content **Role Requirements:** - 10+ years of software development experience with expertise in C#, ASP.NET Web Forms, .NET Framework 4.8, Windows Services, Windows Forms, and SQL Server. - Willingness to learn new technologies, solid understanding of object-oriented programming, familiarity with design patterns, unit testing, databases, and security implications. - Excellent communication skills, ability to write clean, readable code, understanding of JSON, HTML, XML, and proficiency in using source code management tools. - Experience with continuous build and integration, C++ applications, and test-driven development is advantageous. **Desired Skills/Experience Required:** - Experience in maintaining and enhancing live legacy systems, transitioning system ownership, proficiency in GitLab CI, RESTful interfaces, service-oriented architectures, and Test/Behavior Driven Development. **Education/Certifications:** - A relevant degree is desirable, but experience and the right approach to work are equally important.
