Lead Embedded Systems Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate microcontrollers (ESP32/STM32), sensors, actuators, wireless communication modules, and power electronics into mobile robots.
• Establish QA/QC frameworks, SOPs, and guidelines for embedded systems.
• Develop and maintain robot firmware (C/C++/Python) following best practices OOP principles, version control, and modular design.
• Interface with sensors and actuators using wired protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Modbus) and wireless protocols (UDP, TCP, MQTT).
• Debug and resolve both hardware and firmware issues systematically.
• Perform analog circuit design, simulations, and validation using test equipment.
• Carry out FMEA and failure limit estimations for systems and components.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage embedded systems development.

Document embedded hardware and software modules for team-wide collaboration

Preferred candidate profile

• 5+ years of experience designing and maintaining industrial-grade embedded systems with microcontrollers (C/C++), sensors, and actuators.
• Hands-on expertise with 32-bit microcontrollers such as STM32, ESP32, or equivalents.
• Strong understanding of MCU fundamentals: timers, interrupts, PWM, ADC/GPIO, RTOS/multithreading.
• Proven ability to work with communication protocols SPI, I2C, UART, Modbus, UDP, TCP, MQTT.
• Solid knowledge of power electronics DC-DC converters, MOSFETs, relays, Li-ion batteries, BMS.
• Experience with DC, BLDC, and servo motors and motor drivers.
• Skilled in analog circuit design and simulation tools.
• Excellent debugging and structured problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in mobile robotics, drones, or autonomous systems.
• Exposure to full product lifecycle — concept, prototyping, manufacturing, deployment, and support.
• Knowledge of industry safety and compliance standards.
