Lead - Backend Developer

As a Lead - Backend Developer at WrkTalk DigiSec AI Pvt Ltd, you will be responsible for taking full ownership of the backend systems, driving architecture, development, and cross-functional collaboration. Your role will involve building scalable, secure systems, guiding technical decisions, and mentoring a growing team as the company scales. Key Responsibilities: - Own the real-time communication backend powering enterprise messaging, voice, and video calling systems. - Lead microservices architecture using Node.js (TypeScript), Express.js, and NestJS across multiple services and repositories. - Optimize real-time performance for low-latency communication and seamless scaling in enterprise deployments. - Design scalable messaging systems with pub/sub patterns, queue management, and session handling. - Mentor a team of 5+ backend engineers through technical challenges, code reviews, and architectural decisions. - Collaborate with product manager, design, and frontend teams to ship fast, secure, and reliable features. - Write clean, well-tested code and define engineering best practices across the stack. - Manage containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes for on-premise client environments. - Design database schemas, manage integrations, and optimize performance across SQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB and MySQL. - Establish and enforce engineering best practices around code quality, testing, version control, and CI/CD. - Monitor system health using observability tools like logs, metrics, and alerts. - Ensure application reliability through automated testing, logging, and monitoring. - Troubleshoot complex production issues across diverse client environments and infrastructure setups. - Maintain technical documentation for APIs, deployment guides, and client-specific configurations. - Mentor junior engineers, lead by example, and contribute to building a high-performance engineering culture. - Evaluate and integrate new technologies, tools, and patterns to improve backend systems and team efficiency. - Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in backend development to bring innovation to projects. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. - 6+ years of experience building scalable backend services using Node.js/Nest.js. - Deep expertise in asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and design patterns. - Proficient in designing and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, and backend libraries. - Strong command over MongoDB, Postgres, or similar relational/NoSQL databases. - Familiarity with Docker, Git, Postman, and API documentation tools like JSdocs and Swagger. - Solid understanding of frontend fundamentals (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) for collaboration across the stack. - Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and CLI operations. - Competence in test-driven development, writing unit/integration tests, and working in Agile environments. - Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to translate complex requirements into elegant code. - Ability to work independently, drive projects, and mentor junior team members.
