Lead - Backend Developer (Node JS)

Role Overview: As a Lead Backend Developer at AVYRO, you will be a key member of the core founding team, responsible for architecting, building, and owning the core backend services using Node.js. Your role will involve designing REST and/or GraphQL APIs, collaborating with frontend teams, leading a lean backend team, ensuring performance, fault-tolerance, scalability, and observability of the product, and continuously evaluating new technologies. Key Responsibilities: - Architect, build, and own core backend services using Node.js and TypeScript - Design REST and/or GraphQL APIs, message-based systems, real-time endpoints, background jobs - Define tech stack, modular architecture, component libraries, team coding standards, testing strategy - Collaborate with frontend teams and UX/UI designers to ensure backend and UI synchronization - Lead, mentor, and grow a lean backend team through code reviews, architectural discussions, promoting best practices - Build for performance, fault-tolerance, scalability, and observability - Work with data teams, DevOps/infrastructure, product & design for AI/data-driven features - Continuously evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and patterns - Document architecture, decisions, APIs, system flows for maintainability and clarity Qualifications Required: - Strong senior background (4+ years or more) in building backend systems using Node.js and related web technologies - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, monitoring - Proficiency in backend integration, REST APIs, Git workflows - Collaborative, proactive, mentorship skills - Bachelors in CS/Engineering - Bonus: experience in AEC industry or AI/ML adjacent frontend projects - Bonus: startup mindset with a willingness to thrive in ambiguity and iterate fast About the Company: AVYRO is the all-in-one Workforce Command Center designed for the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) industry.
