Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Accurately code interventional radiology (IVR) procedures and diagnoses from medical records.   
  • Assign correct CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes based on documentation and established guidelines.   
  • Analyze medical records to identify documentation deficiencies and query physicians or providers for clarification.   
  • Ensure codes are sequenced correctly according to government and insurance regulations.   
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and client-specific requirements.   
  • Participate in audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.   
  • Meet productivity targets within stipulated time frames.   
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of medical coding concepts, including anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Expertise in coding systems like ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good computer and communication skills.
  • Preferred certifications such as CPC, CRC, or CCS are often mentioned.   
Related skills and qualifications
  • Understanding of the revenue cycle and billing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with specific types of radiology or medical coding is often required.
