Job Summary

The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring software and hardware functionality, and safeguarding network security. This role involves installing and managing software, maintaining firewalls (such as Sophos), troubleshooting network and system issues, and providing technical support to the team.

 

Key Responsibilities

Firewall and Security Management

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain firewalls such as Sophos to ensure network security.
  • Configure firewall policies, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
  • Regularly update firewall firmware and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Identify and mitigate potential security threats across the network.

Infrastructure Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain IT systems, including servers, storage devices, and endpoints.
  • Monitor the performance of hardware and software systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Perform routine updates, backups, and maintenance for IT systems and applications.

Software Installation and Management

  • Install, configure, and update software applications across company systems.
  • Manage software licenses and compliance with company policies.
  • Assist teams with deploying new tools and technologies.

Network Management

  • Ensure stable and secure network connectivity across all office locations (Indore, Hyderabad, and remote teams).
  • Troubleshoot network issues, including LAN/WAN performance and connectivity.
  • Collaborate with service providers to resolve complex network-related problems.

Technical Support

  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Manage IT support tickets, ensuring prompt issue resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge base of common issues and their solutions.

Collaboration and Documentation

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet their IT requirements for projects and operations.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and user guides.
  • Train employees on best practices for using IT systems and tools.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or network management.

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with firewall management, specifically Sophos or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and VPNs.
  • Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with IT monitoring tools and system diagnostics.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to IT challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, Sophos Firewall Certification, or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
