Role Overview

senior Azure DevOps and DataOps engineer

Key Responsibilities

CI/CD & DevOps

• Build, enhance, and maintain

  Azure DevOps YAML pipelines

  for data and application workloads.
• Implement

  CI/CD automation

  for Azure Synapse, ADLS, ADF, SQL Database, and Data Lake.
• Manage repositories, branching strategies, service connections, and release pipelines.
• Implement automated testing, validation steps, and approval workflows.
• Troubleshoot build/release issues and ensure smooth promotion across Dev QA Prod.

Azure Data Platform DevOps

• Deploy and manage Azure Synapse artifacts (SQL scripts, notebooks, and pipelines).
• Automate ADF deployments using ARM templates/JSON/DevOps pipelines.
• Maintain CI/CD for Azure SQL, stored procedures, and schema changes.
• Parameterize deployments for multi-environment support.
• Work with data engineering teams to enable end-to-end automation of data pipelines.

Infrastructure as Code

• Develop and maintain

  ARM templates

  and

  Bicep

  for data platform components.
• Automate provisioning of Data Lake, Key Vault, Storage, SQL, Synapse, Integration Runtimes etc.
• Ensure standardized, reusable IaC modules.

Azure Platform & Monitoring

• Implement monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Ensure security and compliance through RBAC, Key Vault, and managed identities.
• Optimize cost, performance, and reliability of data environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 812 years of experience

  in DevOps/DataOps roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with

  Azure DevOps

  , YAML pipelines, and CI/CD.
• Expert in

  ARM Templates

  , JSON, Bicep (good to have).
• Strong experience with

  Azure Synapse

  ,

  ADF

  ,

  ADLS

  , and

  SQL CI/CD

  .
• Experience deploying and managing Azure Data Platform components.
• Familiarity with PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash scripting.
• Understanding of Azure services: Key Vault, Storage, and Networking basics.
• Experience with Git, version control, and branching strategies.

Good to Have

• Experience with Terraform (optional).
• Exposure to Databricks deployments.
• Knowledge of monitoring/observability tools (Grafana, Log Analytics).
• Understanding of DataOps best practices and agile processes.
