Job Summary:

The Head of Information Technology at Bennett University is a senior position responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and management of the University's Information Technology (IT) systems and services. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including but not limited to IT infrastructure, security, networking, data center operations, and application development. The Head of IT is expected to provide visionary leadership to ensure the University's technology environment is efficient, secure, and aligned with its academic and administrative goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and communicate the University's IT strategic vision and goals.

Collaborate with senior university leadership to align IT strategies with institutional objectives.

IT Infrastructure:

Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the University's IT infrastructure.

Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of network and server systems.

Manage hardware and software procurement, including budgeting and vendor relations.

Security and Compliance:

Develop and implement IT security policies and procedures to safeguard university data and systems.

Stay current with cybersecurity threats and best practices, and implement necessary security measures.

Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards.

Networking:

Manage the university's network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks.

Plan for network expansion, optimization, and redundancy to support academic and administrative needs. Monitor network performance and address issues proactively.

Data Center Operations:

Oversee the operation and maintenance of the university's data center facilities.

Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime.

Application Development:

Lead and manage a team of developers responsible for creating and maintaining university applications.

Ensure the development of user-friendly and secure software solutions.

Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to identify and address application needs.

Team Management:

Recruit, mentor, and develop IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Manage the IT department's budget, resources, and projects effectively.

Foster collaboration and effective communication within the IT team and across the university.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, security, networking, and data center operations.
  • Experience in software development and project management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement IT strategic plans and manage budgets effectively.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the field of IT.
