Job Description

Role & responsibilities

A Hardware Engineer with IoT expertise plays a key role in designing, testing, and delivering robust IoT hardware solutions. This role combines PCB design proficiency with deep knowledge of wireless communication technologies to create innovative, reliable, and scalable products for real-world IoT

Design and Development:

  • Design and implement hardware systems, circuit boards, and IoT-enabled devices using CAD and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD).
  • Develop new hardware components, optimize existing designs, and ensure seamless integration with IoT communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, NB-IoT, LTE-M, etc.).
  • Work on low-power hardware designs tailored for IoT applications and embedded systems.

Testing and Validation:

  • Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and certification of IoT hardware to ensure compliance with industry standards, performance requirements, and reliability benchmarks.
  • Debug and resolve hardware-related issues across prototypes and production units.
  • Perform interoperability and compatibility testing for IoT ecosystems.

Documentation:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, design notes, test reports, and product support documentation.
  • Ensure proper version control and compliance with hardware development processes.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with firmware/software teams to ensure hardware-software co-design and compatibility.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, product designers, and manufacturing teams for seamless IoT product integration and scalability.

Continual Improvement:

  • Stay updated on emerging IoT technologies, sensor integrations, and industry trends to apply best practices in hardware design.
  • Suggest and implement improvements in design processes, tools, and methodologies for enhanced IoT product performance and manufacturability.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in PCB design (schematic capture, layout, DFM/DFT considerations).
  • Proficiency in hardware design principles, digital/analog circuitry, and embedded IoT system design.
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, Zigbee, NB-IoT, LTE-M, etc.) and low-power system design.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers) for validation and debugging.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (C/C++, Python) and hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with effective communication.
