Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management HRM & Plate Mill:

  • Led the execution of HRM revamp and Plate Mill projects including mechanical erection, equipment alignment, and project scheduling.
  • Managed installation of material handling systems Barge Unloader, Grab Buckets, EOT Cranes, Gantry Cranes, and other MHEs.
  • Oversaw unloading and handling of oversized equipment including Mill Housing, Drive Motors, Gear Boxes, and imported assemblies.

Engineering & Procurement:

  • Developed roll shop layouts and ordered equipment (RGM, Shear Knife Grinding, Turning Machines, Jib Cranes, etc.).
  • End-to-end RFQ management from offer comparisons to SAP entries and technical clearances.
  • Performed mechanical checks and alignment of anchor boxes and structural bases for critical mill equipment.

Site & Civil Execution Coordination:

  • Supervised civil interface for equipment foundations, baseplate alignment, and site readiness.
  • Monitored, facilitated, and recorded site progress for fabricated and structural assemblies.
  • Maintained meticulous documentation for engineering drawings and site execution plans.

Installation & Commissioning:

  • Managed installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment and trial runs.
  • Troubleshot operational bottlenecks and ensured seamless handover post-commissioning.

Cost Control & Strategic Planning:

  • Implemented cost-saving measures by sourcing indigenous materials and optimizing design layouts.
  • Rationalized manpower and controlled project expenditure while meeting delivery targets.
  • Avoided project overruns by enforcing strict controls on time, cost, and quality metrics.

Quality Assurance & Documentation:

  • Ensured ISO-9000 quality standards, root cause analysis, internal audits, and engineering review compliance.
  • Archived all project documentation for traceability and ensured audit readiness.

Contract Management:

  • Prepared technical requisitions and evaluated tender offers.
  • Managed techno-commercial negotiations, dispute resolutions, and contract finalization.
  • Maintained coordination with EPC consultants and statutory authorities for clearances and execution.

Team & Vendor Management:

  • Led cross-functional teams and mentored junior engineers and supervisors.
  • Ensured safe work practices and quality control during execution.
  • Built and maintained vendor relationships for seamless material procurement.

Technical Skills:

  • Software: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Primavera, MS Project, SAP (PM & MM Modules), Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook
  • CAD/Programming: AutoCAD, Visual Basic, JavaScript, VBScript, C/C++, Java, HTML
  • Database: SQL Server, MS Access
  • ERP: SAP (Indenting, Stores, Billing, Equipment Data Mapping, Post-Implementation Training)
