About the role: We are seeking an experienced GCP Senior Data Engineer to join our data engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in building and optimizing scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform using BigQuery, Airflow (Cloud Composer), Python, and SQL. Youll work closely with cross-functional teams—Data Scientists, Analysts, and Business stakeholders—to design, implement, and maintain high-performance, reliable, and efficient data solutions that drive business insights and decisions.

Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with business, IT, analytics, and data science teams to collect and understand business requirements.

2. Design, develop, deploy, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines (both inbound and outbound).

3. Model the data platform by applying business logic and building reusable objects in the semantic layer.

4. Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.

5. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for continuous deployment and delivery of data products.

6. Ensure the quality and accuracy of critical data elements through data validation and remediation planning.

7. Collaborate with business and system owners to identify and resolve root causes of data quality issues.

8. Document data pipeline designs, processes, and support strategies.

9. Capture, store, and share data lineage and operational metadata.

10. Troubleshoot and resolve data engineering issues and performance bottlenecks.

11. Develop REST APIs to expose curated data to internal teams and systems.

12. Mentor and guide junior data engineers, promoting best practices in design and development.

Candidate Requirements:

1. 6+ years of experience in data engineering roles.

2. Strong, hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

3. Proven expertise in BigQuery and Airflow / Cloud Composer.

4. Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and automation.

5. Experience in designing and managing ETL/ELT processes and data workflows.

6. Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data quality management.

7. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (e.g., Git).

8. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

9. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Nice to Have:

1. Experience with Fivetran or similar data ingestion tools.

2. Familiarity with DevOps/DataOps practices.

3. Experience building or consuming REST APIs.

4. Exposure to data governance, security, and metadata management best practices.

5. Background in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborative team projects.
