Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Design and develop machining fixtures (turning, milling, Hobbing, shaping, Gear grinding, OD, ID, face grinding) for gear and shaft components.
Collaborate with global manufacturing teams to standardize fixture designs across plants while accommodating local machine capabilities.
Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and GD&T analysis to ensure fixture compatibility with part tolerances.
Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs for fixture fabrication.
Conduct virtual design reviews and provide technical support to overseas teams during fixture implementation.
Validate fixture performance through simulation with machine layout, and on-machine trials.
Maintain fixture design documentation and revision control in PLM systems.
Support
new product introductions (NPIs)
and process localization projects globally.
Coordinate with overseas plants to gather machine specs, tooling standards, and process constraints.
Drive continuous improvement in fixture design to reduce cycle time, setup time, and tooling costs.

Preferred candidate profile

Candidate having 3-8 years experience in Fixture design for precision machining preferably in heavy engineering or automotive.
In-depth knowledge and experience in machining and gear cutting processes & General Machining (hobbing, shaping, gear grinding, turning, HMC, VMC, VTL, SPM etc.).
Expertise with Modular, Hydraulic fixture design & development.
SMED Quick change fixture system.
