Engineering Manager - Platform

Role Overview: As the Engineering Manager - Platform at Sonatype, you will lead high-performing engineering teams in building infrastructure, pipelines, and systems to support analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning across global products. Your role will involve a unique blend of hands-on engineering, leadership, and strategic influence. We are looking for someone with a deep technical background in modern data platforms, proficiency in programming, and a keen understanding of open-source consumption and software supply chain security. This position is based at our Hyderabad office. Responsibilities: - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers to create scalable, secure, and maintainable data solutions. - Write and review production code for frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (Java/Kotlin) systems. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into data strategies and deliverables. - Ensure secure development practices by applying knowledge of open-source component usage, dependency management, and software composition analysis. - Cultivate an engineering culture that values continuous improvement, technical excellence, and team ownership. - Preference for experience in Maven Central. Qualifications: - 8+ years of experience in engineering, backend systems, and infrastructure development. - 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or engineering management role with hands-on contributions. - Proficiency in ReactJS, DocumentDB, API Security, Jenkins, Maven Central, Elasticsearch, etc. - Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala with a focus on building robust, production-grade systems. - Understanding of software dependency management, open-source consumption patterns, and application security principles. - Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD for data engineering workflows.
