Job Description

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Cisco, you will be part of the AI Platform Team focused on creating cutting-edge AI solutions that power intelligent, secure, and scalable applications across Cisco's ecosystem. You will collaborate with AI researchers, data scientists, and engineers to design, develop, and operationalize AI systems that drive measurable business impact for millions of users worldwide. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Deep Knowledge of LLM Architecture:** Comprehensive understanding of Transformer-based models, such as GPT, and their variants. - **Language Model Training and Fine-Tuning:** Experience in training and fine-tuning large-scale language models for specific applications. Familiarity with agentic frameworks is a plus. - **Data Preprocessing for NLP:** Skills in preprocessing textual data, including tokenization and handling text encodings. - **Transfer Learning and Adaptation:** Proficiency in applying transfer learning techniques to adapt existing models to new languages or domains. - **Handling Ambiguity and Context in Text:** Designing models to effectively handle ambiguities and nuances in natural language processing. - **Application of LLMs:** Creatively applying LLM technology in areas like chatbots, content creation, and semantic search. - **Data Annotation and Evaluation:** Designing data annotation strategies and evaluating model performance using appropriate metrics. - **Scalability and Deployment:** Scaling models for production environments and ensuring robust deployment. **Qualifications Required:** - BA / BS degree with 7+ years of experience (or) MS degree with 5+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer. - Solid experience in machine learning engineering with successful project portfolios. - Extensive experience in building scalable machine learning systems. - Expertise in machine learning algorithms, deep learning, and statistical modeling. In this role, you will be responsible for activities such as model training, optimization, and evaluation, algorithm development for language understanding, applying LLMs to cybersecurity, deployment strategy, documentation of best practices, experimentation with emerging technologies, and mentoring team members. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development and implementation of language model projects.
