Role Overview: As a Linux System Engineer at Goldman Sachs, you will be responsible for supporting business units" compute requirements and maintaining core infrastructure systems. You will work closely with application developers and strategists to build and deploy technology solutions. Your role will involve system configuration management, performance testing, tuning, and troubleshooting applications and services. Additionally, you will be involved in exploring and implementing new technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, SaltStack, and OpenShift to enhance the highly-scalable compute platform. Key Responsibilities: - Own and engineer the Linux compute platform at the firm - Write tooling to automate tasks and implement/scale/test infrastructure services - Interact regularly with hardware vendors, internal clients, and partner engineering teams - Help evolve and integrate newer hardware platforms like AMD, Intel, and Pensando - Collaborate with 1st- and 2nd-level organizations for technical troubleshooting - Develop and implement technical solutions and process improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency Qualifications Required: - Hands-on experience with testing and benchmarking different hardware architectures - Proficiency in Linux OS, advanced network concepts, traditional storage platforms, firewalls, and load balancers - Programming skills in Python and Bash - Experience with system configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, etc. - Demonstrated ability to set and achieve project goals in complex technology implementations Additional Details: Goldman Sachs is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
