Job Description

As a Design Engineer at Arcadis, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and technically demanding water and wastewater projects in the UK. Reporting to the Technical Discipline Lead or Technical Director, you will play a crucial role in specifying and designing mechanical process plants to meet client expectations and contribute towards enhancing the UK's water infrastructure and environment. Your responsibilities will include: - Managing selected projects or components for the Water Mechanical team - Overseeing the production and verification of analysis and design, including drawings and reports - Allocating technical resources, ensuring quality assurance, and effective communication with stakeholders - Engaging with various Arcadis Regional offices/teams to address design requirements and mitigate risks - Developing technical methodologies and guiding junior colleagues - Collaborating with other design disciplines to ensure overall design integrity - Providing technical advice to project team members - Managing multiple responsibilities and overseeing the work of colleagues on complex projects In addition to your project responsibilities, you will be expected to have a strong command of BIM/digital/data analytics software and experience in mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, drainage systems, and hydraulic design. Knowledge or experience in the UK/European water industry is preferable. You should also be familiar with British codes, drawing standards, and software like Revit for BIM modeling. To qualify for this role, you should have: - A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering - 5-8+ years of relevant experience in water and wastewater treatment systems - Professional accreditation such as MIMechE with CEng/IEng or similar standing is preferred - Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment At Arcadis, they value diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
