Engineer II, Android Framework

Role Overview: As an Android developer at HARMAN Automotive, you will contribute to designing and developing new software product features. This involves understanding requirements, writing functional code, and unit testing. Collaboration with the team and reporting to the Engineering Manager are key aspects of your role. Key Responsibilities: - Develop secure, memory & CPU optimized, and high-performing Android automotive applications and services using Kotlin, Java, and the Android framework. - Lead the design, development, and implementation of various products, features/components utilizing technologies like Android, Kotlin, and Java. - Create design documents, review artifacts, and contribute to end-to-end feature development/solutions based on requirements. - Collaborate with colleagues from Architecture, QA, and Process Excellence to ensure smooth development and delivery of product/customer releases. - Support peer reviews for design artifacts and code reviews. - Provide support in the development process and establish best practices to identify and solve non-functional requirements. Qualifications Required: - Thorough understanding of designing and implementing high-performing Android applications, knowledge of Object-Oriented concepts, best practices, design patterns, and frameworks. - 7+ years of experience in Android Automotive product development. - Demonstrable knowledge of Android framework, Kotlin, Java, Android IPC, Activity, Services, Broadcast receivers, Content providers, and unit testing frameworks. - Proficiency in SDK integration, Agile Scrum methodology, Jenkins, GitHub, and Gradle. - Bonus points for a Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent, knowledge of Android-based Automotive Infotainment ecosystem, experience in Navigation Applications and GPS HAL, and working in global teams.
