Job Description – Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Thermal Power Plant) Engineer-Power Generation Role Overview:- We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Electrical Maintenance Engineer with strong expertise in thermal power plant processes and electrical equipment maintenance. The selected candidate will be responsible for routine and shutdown maintenance of electrical systems, working independently in shifts, and ensuring reliable plant operations. Key Responsibilities:- Carry out routine and shutdown maintenance for electrical systems and equipment. Work independently during shifts and handle shift-related maintenance activities. Maintain and troubleshoot: Steam turbine generators 220 KV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) Power & distribution transformers HT/LT motors with switchgear Diesel Generators (DG sets) Batteries, battery chargers, and UPS systems Operate and maintain Generator excitation systems (ABB Unitrol 6080). Configure and troubleshoot ABB RED/RET/REM/REF series numerical relays and ESP EPIC III controllers. Read, interpret, and work with electrical system drawings. Maintain Ash & Coal handling system electrical equipment. Ensure proper functioning of AC, HVAC systems, EOT cranes, lifts, lighting, lightning protection, and earthing systems. Handle electrical lab instruments and calibration of testing equipment. Implement preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance practices. Coordinate with ABB and Siemens relays for protection and communication. Utilize SAP (Material & Maintenance Module) for maintenance planning, tracking, and material management. Skills & Competencies Strong technical knowledge of thermal power plant processes and electrical systems. Expertise in maintenance of high-voltage and low-voltage equipment. Ability to independently handle shift operations and troubleshooting. Proficiency in numerical relay operation, generator excitation systems, and substation equipment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Familiarity with preventive & predictive maintenance methodologies. Basic proficiency in SAP (maintenance & material modules). Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s/Diploma in Electrical Engineering. 5–10 years of experience in electrical maintenance in thermal power plants. Experience in 220KV GIS, ABB Unitrol excitation systems, numerical relays, and ESP controllers preferred. Hands-on experience in maintenance of plant auxiliary electrical equipment.
