The Opportunity
Director of Technical Operations – India
This role is ideal for a seasoned technologist and people leader who still cares about the tech, thrives in fast-paced environments, and wants to be part of something that actually builds and ships.
What You’ll Own
Leadership & Culture:
Build and lead a Bengaluru-based engineering team known for technical excellence, ownership, and velocity. Be the technical conscience and cultural anchor of Surya India.Technical Delivery:
Ensure delivery quality across M365, Azure, DevOps, Observability (e.g. Datadog, AppInsights), Security, Networking, and Infrastructure automation. You’ll need to know the tech, not just manage it.Talent Magnetism:
Attract, assess, and develop top 10% engineers. Your credibility and visibility in the community will be a recruiting differentiator.Client Alignment:
Work closely with our US CTO, Solutions Directors, and enterprise clients. Be comfortable in technical conversations with CIOs and Engineering leads alike.Operational Excellence:
Drive SLA-based delivery across L2-L4 support, infrastructure-as-code deployments, NOC/SOC-aligned operations, and cloud-native modernization efforts.Growth & Evolution:
Shape the direction of the India team as we scale from a high-trust boutique model to a 24/7 enterprise-grade operation – without losing agility or talent quality.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 10+ years of hands-on technical leadership in managed services or consulting, with experience serving US or global enterprise clients.
- Deep experience in
Microsoft 365, Azure, DevOps, modern networking, security
, and observability tooling. You must be able to mentor senior engineers credibly. - Track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams in India or the US.
- Comfort with modern cloud, automation, and platform-as-a-service operating models.
- Strong communication and executive presence; you will interface directly with senior stakeholders in the US.
Bonus Points For
- Direct experience with US manufacturing, healthcare, or mid-market IT operations.
- Demonstrated ability to “productize” services or lead automation-first initiatives.
- Technical certifications (Azure, M365, Kubernetes, etc.) are a plus but not required if your experience speaks for itself.
