Devops Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and configuring GCP resources (e.g., Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Functions) for development, testing, and production environments.
• Contribute to automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Cloud Deployment Manager.
• Help design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Cloud Build to streamline software delivery.
• Participate in containerization efforts (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for application deployment and scaling.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure performance using GCPs monitoring tools (Cloud Monitoring, Stackdriver) and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability.
• Write and maintain scripts (Bash, Python) to automate repetitive tasks, such as log aggregation, backup processes, and resource cleanup.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud costs, security, and compliance.
• Stay updated with the latest GCP features, DevOps best practices, and industry trends through documentation and community resources.

Preferred candidate profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (e.g., B.Sc CS/IT, AI/ML).
• Google Cloud Certification is preferred
• Strong foundational knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line interfaces.
• Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python, Bash, or Go) for automation tasks.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and exposure to GCP services (e.g., Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Kubernetes Engine) – familiarity is a plus, but willingness to learn is essential.
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and CI/CD principles (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build).
• Eagerness to learn DevOps tools (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes) and GCP-specific technologies (e.g., Cloud Functions, Cloud Run).
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to debug technical issues in cloud environments.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with software engineers, system admins, and product teams.
