Desktop Engineer

Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer (Contract)

Location: Remote

Duration: 6-12 months

Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
• Build, test, and deploy application packages using MSIX and App Attach.
• Develop and manage application policies, workflows, and administrative processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support user migrations from Horizon to AVD.
• Assist with CI/CD automation for app packaging and management.
• Provide day-to-day operational support including session troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
• Document technical processes and share knowledge with internal team members.

Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop administration.
• Strong background in application packaging (MSIX, App Attach, Apex manifest files).
• Troubleshooting expertise for session issues and app deployment challenges.
• Familiarity with control planes (Nerdio preferred but not required).

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for automation.
• Experience migrating from VMware Horizon to AVD (a plus).
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
