Design & Development Engineer

As a Stamping Tool Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-precision progressive and compound dies. Your key responsibilities will include: - Creating high-precision progressive and compound dies for stamping applications. - Conducting DFM/DFA analysis on designs to optimize for stamping, material utilization, and cost. - Performing feasibility studies for new product designs and tool concepts, including material flow and tonnage calculations. - Producing detailed 2D and 3D tool designs, including drawings and BOMs. - Selecting appropriate tool steels, coatings, and standard components for die construction. - Collaborating with the tool room during manufacturing, assembly, and try-out phases, providing technical support. - Identifying and resolving production tooling problems, implementing corrective actions. - Driving initiatives for optimizing tool design and manufacturing processes. - Working with product teams to ensure new stator/rotor designs are optimized for stamping. - Offering expert advice on material selection, tolerances, and feature design for manufacturability. - Identifying design modifications for material optimization and cost efficiency. - Developing and managing design specifications, engineering drawings, and process sheets. - Assisting in the development and fabrication of new stator and rotor prototypes. - Designing and supervising testing protocols for new tools and components to validate performance. - Evaluating test results and recommending design revisions. - Working effectively with manufacturing, quality assurance, sales, and purchasing teams. - Clearly conveying complex technical details to various stakeholders. - Providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and technicians. - Keeping informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices. - Verifying all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, safety, and quality procedures. - Contributing to FMEA and other risk assessment activities. - Executing design changes based on root cause analysis of quality issues.
