Database Engineer

As a Database Engineer at Barclays, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of Location Strategy projects to plan, budget, agreed quality, and governance standards. You will spearhead the evolution of the digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence to ensure unparalleled customer experiences. Key Responsibilities: - Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, and other related monitoring and troubleshooting. - Replication and basic working knowledge in MongoDB sharding. - Ops manager expertise. - Performing health checks to monitor CPU/Memory usage, Locks, Number of connections, slow queries, Replication lags, Node failures, Partial Index, and usage patterns. - Maintenance required during release/outage etc. - MongoDB backup configuration and recovery techniques. - Event, Incident, change, and problem management. - Disaster Recovery know-how for MongoDB. - Database support for production and test environments. - Monitoring and alerting. - Database migration and maintenance. - Data movement utilities. Qualifications Required: - Openness to learn other supported database technologies and tools. - Advanced knowledge and practical implementation in MongoDB Sharding. - Configuring and monitoring Automation agent. - MongoDB Upgrades. - Various Database authentication mechanisms and practical implementations. - Logical access management. - Database audit & compliance. - MongoDB backup and restore. - Good knowledge of mongoimport, mongoexport, mongodump, mongorestore. - Hands-on experience with OpsManager backup and restore. - Good knowledge of OpsManager admin. - Hands-on experience with MongoDB 6.0 and 7.0. - MongoDB replication and its internals. - Understanding of write concerns in MongoDB. In this role based in Pune, your purpose will be to effectively monitor and maintain the bank's critical technology infrastructure and resolve complex technical issues while minimizing disruption to operations. Accountabilities: - Provide technical support for the service management function to resolve complex issues for specific clients or groups of clients. - Execution of preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software using monitoring tools/metrics to identify and prevent potential issues. - Maintain a knowledge base containing detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference and knowledge sharing. - Analysis of system logs, error messages, and user reports to identify root causes of issues and provide resolutions. - Identification and remediation of potential service impacting risks and issues. - Actively assess support activities, implement automations, and tune monitoring tools for stability and efficiency. As an Analyst, you are expected to perform activities in a timely manner and to a high standard consistently. You will need in-depth technical knowledge and experience in your assigned area of expertise, leading and supervising a team if applicable. You will have an impact on related teams within the area, partner with other functions, and take responsibility for managing risk and strengthening controls.
