Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

Role Overview

Database Administrator (DBA)

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other RDBMS).
Monitor and optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
Design, implement, and maintain schemas, indexes, and storage structures.
Perform regular database backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning.
Ensure database availability, scalability, and high reliability.
Implement and enforce database security, access controls, and compliance standards.
Collaborate with development teams to optimize queries, stored procedures, and data workflows.
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues with minimal downtime.
Deploy and manage monitoring tools and alerts for proactive performance management.
Create and maintain documentation for database policies, processes, and best practices.

Requirements

Proven experience as a
Database Administrator
or in a similar role.
Strong expertise in
MySQL / PostgreSQL
(or other major RDBMS).
Hands-on experience with
performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
.
Solid knowledge of
backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
.
Familiarity with
replication, clustering, and partitioning
.
Understanding of
data security, privacy regulations, and compliance standards
.
Experience with
cloud-based databases
(AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL, or Azure SQL) is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience in managing databases for
SaaS or enterprise-level platforms
.
Familiarity with
DevOps practices
(Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines).
Exposure to
automation and scripting
(Python, Shell, or similar).
