Grade Level (for internal use): 10 S&P Global Commodity Insights About the Role : Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET III) The Team : The team works in the SAFe agile environment and adheres to all principles of Agile. As SDET, you will work with a team of intelligent, ambitious and results-oriented software professionals. The team is independent in driving all decisions and is responsible for the design and quick turnaround of development of our products with the highest quality. Responsibilities and Impact : In the SDET role, you will make a significant contribution in building solutions to test across data platforms, API, web and services platforms using efficient data comparison methods. Your challenge will be to reduce time to market for products without compromising quality whereby leveraging automation/performance testing as well as innovation. You will use a wide range of technologies and have the opportunity to interact with different internal teams. Design and develop automation/performance/load testing solutions that meet organization standards for APIs/services, database, and web Build reliable, reusable and maintainable automated regression suites & test harnesses Implement CI/CD by integrating automation builds in development pipelines Design and develop test strategies/test cases based on acceptance criteria, execute test cases, analyze and communicate test results to the team/manager Perform in-sprint automated & performance/load testing to fulfill the Definition of Done Participate actively in functional, system and regression testing activities Work in the agile environment, attend and contribute to all scrum ceremonies (daily scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement and retrospectives) Present work during sprint reviews to wider IT, Product, and Business audience Ensure best practices are followed and testing activities stay on schedule Capture test metrics Work with team members in other geographic locations Investigate new testing methodologies, keeping abreast of latest advances/techniques What Were Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: Bachelor's/PG degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent. 7 - 10 years of experience in software testing or development with good understanding of testing, coding and debugging procedures Experience in programming using Java & other languages e.g. Python, C# Experience in design and development of automated tests using automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Appium) across the application layers (UI/Service/Data layers) Experience in API testing using Postman, Rest-Assured (preferred), Ready API and Soap UI Experience in Algorithm Testing or Data Testing Strong performance script creation using Jmeter (preferred), Load Runner/Performance Center Experience with SQL/PL-SQL, writing SQL queries, and stored procedures Experience with source control tools such as GIT, TFS, SVN Experience with CI Engines (Jenkins, Hudson, Cruise Control) including distributed build system management and understanding of the pipeline system Proficient in Agile, QA methodologies, defect management system, and documentation. Hands-on data automation engineer with strong Python or Java coding skills and solid SQL expertise, who can work with large data sets, understand stored procedures, and independently write data-driven automation logic. Develop and execute test cases with a focus on Fixed Income trading workflows. The requirement goes beyond automation tools and aligns better with a junior developer or data automation role Desired Skills and experience :- Strong programming experience in Python (preferred) or Java. Strong experience of working with Python and its libraries like Pandas, NumPy, etc. Hands-on experience with SQL, including: Writing and debugging complex queries (joins, aggregations, filtering, etc.) Understanding stored procedures and using them in automation Experience working with data structures, large tables and datasets Comfort with data manipulation, validation, and building comparison scripts Nice to have: Familiarity with PyCharm, VS Code, or IntelliJ for development and understanding of how automation integrates into CI/CD pipelines Prior exposure to financial data or post-trade systems (a bonus) Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Experience of working with test management tools (e.g., X-Ray/JIRA). Extremely strong organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail Strong track record of excellent results delivered to internal and external clients Able to work independently without the need for close supervision and collaboratively as part of cross-team efforts Experience with delivering projects within an agile environment Key Responsibilities :- Write custom data validation scripts based on provided regression test cases Read, understand, and translate stored procedure logic into test automation Compare datasets across environments and generate diffs Collaborate with team members and follow structured automation practices Contribute to building and maintaining a central automation script repository Establish and implement comprehensive QA strategies and test plans from scratch. Develop and execute test cases with a focus on Fixed Income trading workflows. Driving the creation of regression test suites for critical back-office applications. Collaborate with development, business analysts, and project managers to ensure quality throughout the SDLC. Provide clear and concise reporting on QA progress and metrics to management. Bring strong subject matter expertise in the Financial Services Industry, particularly fixed income trading products and workflows. Ensure effective, efficient, and continuous communication (written and verbally) with global stakeholders Independently troubleshoot difficult and complex issues on different environments Responsible for end-to-end delivery of projects, coordination between client and internal offshore teams and managing client queries Demonstrate high attention to detail, should work in a dynamic environment whilst maintaining high quality standards, a natural aptitude to develop good internal working relationships and a flexible work ethic Responsible for Quality Checks and adhering to the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) / Turn Around Time (TAT)
