Data Scientist - Mobile Health App

About the Role:

highly motivated and hands-on Data Scientist-cum-AI/ML Engineer

Amazon SageMaker

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, train, validate, and deploy ML models on

  Amazon SageMaker

  to:
• Predict health trends
• Generate personalised AI recommendations
• Calculate life expectancy indicators based on multi-source data
• Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest data from

  wearables, healthcare platforms, manual inputs, and sensors

• Collaborate with the

  Node.js backend

  and

  Flutter frontend

  teams to integrate ML models into the mobile app via APIs
• Continuously improve model accuracy using real-world user data, A/B testing, and feedback loops
• Implement

  explainable AI techniques

  to ensure outputs are interpretable and user-friendly
• Leverage

  OCR tools (Amazon Textract/Rekognition)

  to extract data from uploaded health documents and reports
• Ensure all AI modules are

  privacy-aware

  , secure, and meet compliance standards for health-related applications
• Work with the UI/UX team to translate model outputs into engaging, intuitive data visualisations

Initial Phase Deliverables:

Phase 1:

• Life Expectancy Indicator model
• AI-generated health summaries and visual feedback
• Emergency prediction triggers (based on wearable or manual input data)
• AI-integrated dashboard components

Phase 2:

• Personalised health and lifestyle recommendations
• Deep learning-based behaviour prediction
• Enhanced carer quality-of-care analysis and service feedback analytics

Required Skills & Experience:

• 35 years of experience in

  machine learning and data science

  , with end-to-end experience from data prep to model deployment
• Proficiency with

  Amazon SageMaker

  ,

  TensorFlow

  ,

  PyTorch

  ,

  Scikit-learn

• Strong knowledge of

  Python

  and relevant ML libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib)
• Experience integrating ML models into mobile or web apps via REST APIs
• Solid understanding of

  time-series data

  ,

  classification

  ,

  regression

  , and

  recommendation systems

• Familiarity with

  health-related datasets

  ,

  wearable device data

  , and

  personalisation algorithms

• Hands-on experience with

  OCR pipelines

  using Textract or equivalent services
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, agile mindset

Nice to Have:

• Experience working with

  HIPAA-compliant

  systems or health tech products
• Background in

  signal processing

  from wearable sensors
• Experience working with

  real-time anomaly detection models

• Exposure to

  serverless AI deployment
