Computer Lab Assistant

• A computer lab assistant's primary roles are to provide technical support, maintain equipment, and assist users like students and faculty. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software problems, performing minor repairs, ensuring equipment is functional and clean, managing the lab's software and network, and instructing users on proper use.
• Technical support and user assistance
• Assist users: Help students and faculty with software, hardware, and printing issues.
• Troubleshoot problems: Diagnose and fix basic problems with computers, peripherals, and lab equipment.
• Pride instruction: Teach users how to operate specific equipment and software.
• Manage logins: Help users with account issues, such as password resets. Equipment and lab maintenance
• Perform routine maintenance: Clean equipment, clear paper jams, refill printers, and ensure all computers are running properly.
• Manage hardware: Install and configure new computers, including operating systems and drivers.
• Monitor equipment: Ensure proper care and use of lab equipment and report any damage or malfunctions.
• Maintain inventory: Track supplies and equipment, and place orders when necessary. Operational and security duties
• Enforce lab rules: Ensure users follow procedures and maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
• Monitor for threats: Check for and prevent the download of malware or spyware.
• Backup data: Perform regular backups of important data.
• Manage lab schedule: Coordinate the lab schedule to ensure efficient use.
