Job Description

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities:

1.

  • Manage activities related to SIPCOT.
  • Factories Act, 1948 and State Factory Rules
  • Labour Laws (Industrial Disputes Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, EPF & ESI Acts, Contract Labour Act, etc.)
  • Environmental Laws (Air Act, Water Act, Hazardous Waste Rules, E-Waste Rules)
  • Pollution Control Board Consent to Establish (CTE) & Consent to Operate (CTO) conditions
  • Mines Act (if raw material mines are part of operations)
  • Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions Code

2.

  • Factory License
  • Pollution Control Certificates
  • Fire Safety NOC
  • Boiler Operation Certificates
  • Weights & Measures Certification
  • Explosive & Gas Cylinder Storage Permits (if applicable)

3.

  • Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health
  • State & Central Pollution Control Boards
  • Labour Departments

4.

  • Fire Department & Local Authorities
  • Draft responses to notices, show-cause letters, or litigation matters in coordination with legal counsel.

5.

  • Maintain statutory registers and records in prescribed formats.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance returns to respective authorities.
  • Maintain an updated Compliance Calendar to track deadlines.
  • Keep archives of all licenses, permits, inspection reports, and government communications.

6.

  • Coordinate with the Safety Officer to ensure compliance with statutory safety standards.
  • Monitor steel plant emissions, effluent discharge, and waste disposal in line with PCB norms.
  • Ensure adherence to hazardous materials handling and storage guidelines.
  • Support periodic internal safety and environmental audits.

7.

  • Conduct internal compliance audits to identify gaps.
  • Develop and implement SOPs for legal and statutory compliance.
  • Train departmental heads, contractors, and supervisors on compliance requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualification

    : Bachelor's degree in

    Law (LLB), Industrial Relations, Engineering

    , or related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • Work Experience

    : 8 15 years of experience in compliance management for

    heavy industries/steel plants.

  • In-depth knowledge of Indian industrial, environmental, and labour laws.
  • Proven track record of handling government inspections without adverse remarks.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong legal and regulatory knowledge specific to steel manufacturing.
  • Excellent documentation, negotiation, and liaison skills.
  • Proficiency in compliance management tools and MS Office.
  • High integrity and ability to work under tight compliance deadlines.
