Backend Engineer

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining middleware services to facilitate data exchange between internal and external systems. This will involve designing, building, and managing REST APIs and asynchronous processing flows using Node.js. Additionally, you will implement and configure Kong API Gateway for routing, authentication, and throttling purposes. Your role will also include handling data transformation, mapping, validation, and orchestration tasks, applying middleware-focused design patterns, and working with queues (such as Kafka/RabbitMQ) and file-based inputs (SFTP) for async integrations. Furthermore, you will be expected to secure endpoints using OAuth2, JWT, API keys, and rate limiting measures, while ensuring that the code you write is testable, maintainable, and includes robust logging and monitoring. Qualifications Required: - 6-8 years of backend or integration development experience, preferably in fintech, SaaS, or wealthtech industries. - Strong hands-on experience with Node.js for REST API and middleware development. - Solid knowledge of Kong API Gateway or a similar tool. - Familiarity with integration methods such as REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, message queues, and SFTP. - Experience working with financial data formats like FIX, OFX, JSON, and XML. - Comfort with asynchronous tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, etc. - Deep understanding of API/middleware security best practices.,
