Role Summary:

Backend Engineer

cloud-native architecture, REST API design, authentication/security

This is a contract role (2–3 months) with the potential to extend or convert full-time based on performance and project needs.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using

  Django / Django REST Framework

  .
• Integrate and manage

  GCP and Firebase services

  (Firestore, Firebase Auth, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, etc.).
• Implement authentication, authorization, and data-access controls (JWT/OAuth2, RBAC).
• Design database models and business logic using

  Django ORM

  , signals, and middleware.
• Develop and optimize

  unit tests and integration tests

  for API endpoints and background tasks.
• Set up and maintain

  CI/CD pipelines

  , Git workflows, and version control best practices.
• Containerise and deploy services using Docker / Kubernetes (preferable).
• Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend, ML, and product teams for smooth end-to-end delivery.
• Ensure security, scalability, and observability across backend services.

Must-Have Skills:

• 2–5 years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong expertise in

  Python, Django, and Django REST Framework

  .
• Solid understanding of

  OOP, MVC architecture, and software design principles

  .
• Working knowledge of

  GCP and Firebase ecosystems

  (Firestore, Auth, Cloud Functions, Storage).
• Familiarity with

  Docker

  , containerization, and deployment workflows.
• Good understanding of

  CI/CD systems

  and

  Git-based version control

  .
• Proficiency in writing

  secure, efficient, and well-tested code

  .
• Understanding of

  REST design, API security, and authentication protocols (JWT/OAuth2)

  .

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with

  Redis

  for caching or async workloads.
• Familiarity with

  Kubernetes

  , Terraform, or other infra-as-code tools.
• Exposure to healthcare, workflow automation, or data-driven applications.
• Knowledge of

  observability tools

  (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
