Job Description

  • We seek a highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual with outstanding credentials and demonstrated analytical (quantitative and qualitative) and stakeholder management abilities for the role of Assistant Program Officer , to be based out of Raipur , Chhattisgarh.
  • The Consultant will work closely with the state and national program teams and will be expected to develop and manage strong relationships with the Department of Health & Family Welfare ( DoHFW ) Chhattisgarh to support program implementation initiatives.
  • T he successful candidate must have a deep understanding of the public health space, strong quantitative and analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to function independently with flexibility in a dynamic and uncertain situation, be self-motivated, and have a strong commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the program team to carry out an in-depth situation analysis, which involves mapping key stakeholders, evaluating their influence and interests, and identifying critical factors that may impact program success
  • Support the state team in preparing reports, reviews, summaries, and high-quality presentations, briefs, and dashboards related to the medical oxygen program for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in development of comprehensive state profiles and strategic roadmaps focused on scaling up oxygen systems and strengthening maternal and child health (MCH) services within the state, ensuring alignment with local needs and priorities for sustainable impact
  • Document best practices to ensure the sustainability and long-term success of the program
  • Design and implement innovative strategies to improve the delivery and accessibility of training materials, enhancing their reach and impact
  • Work closely with government partners to integrate diverse data sources, establish data dashboards, and develop models that effectively track costs, quantify demand, and forecast future requirements for medical oxygen
  • Assist the State Engagement Lead in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor to ensure efficient coordination of resources and efforts to optimize program impact
  • Conduct routine program monitoring visits, gather field insights, and assess public health facilities in various districts across the state
  • Contribute to internal organizational initiatives and support cross-functional efforts
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed, as assigned by the reporting manager

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Health Management, Social Sciences, Public Health, Hospital and Health Management, Hospital Administration, or a related field; or a Master s in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on health or public sector management.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in health system strengthening and public health, ideally in both private and public sector settings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi , including ability to create persuasive presentations and written reports.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to navigate complex processes and influence decision-making in a professional and collaborative manner.
  • High emotional intelligence, patience, and thoughtfulness even in high-pressure, stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within and outside the program states and districts.
  • Experience of working with government stakeholders and familiarity with the Indian public health system/social impact sector in areas of supply chain management will be a plus.
