Job Description

Job Summary:

The IP Network Routing & Switching Engineer isresponsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshootingenterprise-level LAN/WAN infrastructure. This role ensures optimal networkperformance, security, and scalability by managing routers, switches, andassociated protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Design & Implementation

Design and deploy routing and switching infrastructure basedon business needs

Configure and install routers, switches, firewalls, andother networking devices.

Collaborate with network architects and IT teams to developscalable solutions.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

Monitor network performance and proactively resolve issuesrelated to routing and switching.

Diagnose and troubleshoot routing errors, switchmalfunctions, and connectivity issues.

Provide remote support during installations and outages.

Protocol & Configuration Management

Optimize routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.

Manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 configurations including VLANs,STP, and IP addressing.

Administer firewall and access control settings in line withsecurity policies

Security & Compliance

Implement security measures in routing and switchingprotocols to safeguard network integrity.

Conduct audits and ensure compliance with industry standardsand regulations

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain detailed documentation of network configurationsand troubleshooting procedures

Report network operational status and performance metrics tostakeholders

Project & Vendor Coordination

Plan and execute network expansion projects, includinghardware upgrades.

Coordinate with vendors for procurement and support ofnetworking equipment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT.
Proven experience in enterprise networking environments.
Strong knowledge of Cisco technologies (Catalyst, Nexus),routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and switching technologies.
Hands-on experience with network configuration andtroubleshooting.
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highlypreferred
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizationalskills.

Preferred Experience:

Experience with Cisco routers ASR 9XX, ASR 9010, ASR 9912, SD-WAN, Alcatel Lucent PSS 32, PSS 4, configuration & troubleshooting routers
Experience working with multiple clients.
