This role is responsible for environmental monitoring and lab analysis operations, ensuring accurate assessment of air and water quality parameters. This role is pivotal in guiding the collection and interpretation of environmental data and spearheading initiatives in digitization and automation to enhance operational efficiency. The Lead Environment Lab plays a crucial role in driving environmental best practices and fostering a culture of innovation within the department.Responsibilities
Lead Environment Lab: Environment chemist and field monitoring
Field Monitoring, Lab Management And Accreditation
Conduct environmental monitoring, including air pollution (Ambient air quality management), air emissions, water and wastewater monitoring.Oversee the operations, maintenance, and calibration of Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Systems (CAAQMS), CEMS, STP, ETP, Guard point, Ash Dykes, etc. and coordinate for yearly contracts.Implement and maintain the lab in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.Lead the NABL accreditation process, including application submission, audit facilitation, and certificate renewal, as applicable.Maintain and monitor inventory of lab chemicals on CRM, as applicable.Prepare and manage the department's material budget for optimal utilization.Manage operations and maintenance of waste water treatment plant, waste paper recycling unit, fly ash bricks plant and cenosphere harvesting plant, as applicable.Monitor and supervise water tankers.Perform site inspection and monitoring for emission, effluent discharge, other environmental aspects etc.Analysis And Reporting
Compile and analyse environmental data to generate comprehensive reports.Perform sample collection and lab analysis for various environmental parameters.Monitor and analyse samples from cooling towers, boilers, sewage water, effluent water, groundwater, and piezometers.Manage preparation, upgradation, and maintenance of NABL parameter reports and records, as applicable.Complete and submit Proficiency Test (PT) reports, as required.Ensure timely collection of samples by the 3rd party/NABL affiliated laboratory.Prepare daily weather forecast reports and share with the respective teams.Business Sustainability
Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA and other management guidelines within the department.Maintain the safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.Implement sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact and ensure long-term operational viability.Develop and enforce environmental compliance policies to meet regulatory standards.Promote a culture of environmental awareness and continuous improvement within the team.Conduct regular environmental risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.Prepare and submit required data/presentations for internal review meetings.Digitization And Automation

Educational Qualification:
B.Tech in Environment Engineering/ Master's degree in Organic Chemistry/ Industrial chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field with a focus on environmental studies.Work Experience (Range Of Years)
4+ years of experience in environmental monitoring, lab management, and analysis within a laboratory setting.Preferred Industry
Experience in the power sector, environmental consultancy, or related industries with a strong emphasis on environmental compliance and lab operations.
