Assembly Engineer

Industry:

Role Objective:

To plan, implement, and monitor the assembly and testing of equipment as per DPM (Detailed Production Milestones) dates, ensure quality by identifying and troubleshooting rework, and coordinate with cross-functional teams for timely completion and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assembly & Testing Execution

• Plan and implement assembly & testing activities in line with DPM dates and project schedules.
  
• Ensure proper utilization of manpower, tools, and equipment during assembly operations.
  
• Verify adherence to assembly drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  

1. Rework Identification & Troubleshooting

• Identify defects or rework issues at the assembly stage.
  
• Analyze root causes and implement corrective actions in coordination with the Quality and Design teams.
  
• Ensure preventive measures are established to avoid recurrence.
  

1. Coordination & Material Management

• Coordinate for availability of in-house manufactured, vendored, and bought-out items required for assembly.
  
• Follow up with the Procurement, Stores, and Vendor teams to ensure timely material availability.
  
• Assist in monitoring inventory and raising alerts for shortages of critical items.
  

1. Customer Complaints & Field Issues

• Support in resolving customer complaints related to assembly and performance.
  
• Conduct failure analysis and propose corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
  
• Provide technical support during site installation, commissioning, or warranty claims when required.
  

1. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and compliance requirements in all assembly & testing activities.
  
• Maintain proper documentation of assembly records, inspection reports, and test results as per ISO/API standards.
  
• Participate in internal and external audits and ensure compliance with company policies.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of assembly & testing processes in Oil & Gas equipment (Valves, Compressors, Pumps, or similar).
  
• Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  
• Cross-functional coordination and vendor management skills.
  
• Familiarity with ISO/API quality systems.
  
• Good communication and customer-handling skills.
  

Qualification & Experience:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  
• 3–7 years of experience in Assembly & Testing, preferably in the Oil & Gas Equipment Manufacturing industry.
  
• Experience in handling rework, customer complaints, and vendor coordination is desirable.
