Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Select, evaluate, and integrate LLMs and generative AI models (including MCP), develop and deploy AI-driven features, and document technical solutions and recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and APIs to support AI/ML workflows, ensuring data quality, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data, software, DevOps) to integrate AI solutions into production environments and support release validation.
• Monitor, evaluate, and optimise AI models and applications. Stay current with AI advancements and contribute to the continuous improvement of LabVantage's AI capabilities.

Preferred candidate profile

• At least 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, ML Engineer, or AI Engineer, including at least 1 year on generative AI projects.
• Experience with LLM-based application development and frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Haystack, LlamaIndex).
• Experience with data pipeline development, model selection and benchmarking, and API integration.
• Familiarity with cloud-based AI services, SaaS environments, and MLOps practices.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML principles, protocols, and best practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of major LLMs (Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI, OpenAI, etc.) and ability to recommend suitable models for various use cases.
• Mastery of key generative AI concepts: Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Chain-of-Thought (CoT), agentic AI, and conversational AI.
• Proficient in at least one LLM-based application development framework.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English.
