Application Support Engineer

Location:

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 application support for NFRT production environments, including incident management, troubleshooting, escalations, and problem management.
• Implement SRE practicesautomation, observability, resiliency, and toil reduction.
• Manage application servers and infrastructure components (Linux/Unix, Windows, storage, networking, databases).
• Develop automated solutions to reduce downtime, manual effort, and operational toil.
• Configure and enhance monitoring using industry tools; build custom monitoring dashboards and alerts.
• Validate and track SRE metrics against team and firm-level reliability goals.
• Support cloud migration, containerization, and platform modernization initiatives.
• Implement and maintain reusable infrastructure design patterns.
• Onboard vendor technologies adhering to Morgan Stanley security blueprints.
• Perform system hygiene tasks, performance tuning, and stability improvements.
• Work closely with infra, networking, security, database, and data center teams.
• Availability for weekend support and rotational on-call.

Required Skills

• Strong Linux (RHEL 8.x)

  administration (minimum 5 years).

• Kubernetes / OpenShift (Hands-on mandatory).

• Scripting:

  Python, Shell.

• Distributed Systems & SOA Architecture.

• Databases:

  Sybase, DB2, SQL, PostgreSQL.

• Web & App Servers:

  Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, JBoss (integration + troubleshooting).

• Containers:

  Docker; Kubernetes platform integration.

• Messaging:

  Kafka.

• Networking & Infra Concepts:

  Load balancers, proxies, NAS/SAN storage.

• Security Concepts:

  Kerberos, SSL/TLS, hosting security best practices.

• Monitoring Tools:

  Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Ansible.

• Incident/Problem Management

  for large-scale, n-tier applications.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Hadoop / Cloudera, ELK Stack.
• Airflow orchestration.
• Redis, NoSQL databases, SPARQL.
• Cloud platforms & distributed computing (certifications preferred).
• Capacity planning & performance tuning.
• Identity management: OIDC/OAuth, SAML, LDAP.
• Exposure to GenAI / LLM-based tooling.

Experience

• 5–8+ years in application support, SRE, DevOps, or middleware engineering.
• Experience in global banking or financial services is an added advantage.
