Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Technology with 12+ years of experience to lead enterprise software development and testing capability, to support the business. The candidate should be a seasoned Senior Technical Leader with expertise in system architecture, development, release management, support and agile/scrum delivery as well as an experienced and dynamic individual to oversee end-to-end project deliveries and ensure exceptional client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, strong leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to delivery excellence.This role requires strong technology delivery expertise with a proven track record of managing complex deliveries and workstreams supporting multiple projects and initiatives utilising hybrid workforce including permanent and managed services staff.
Key Accountabilities and Main Responsibilities
Strategic Focus
- Technical and Delivery Leadership:
Set technical direction and architectural standards across engineering teams. Guide complex system designs and solutioning for critical initiatives. Ensure adherence to best practices in engineering excellence, including code quality, performance and security. Champion modern software engineering practices with an emphasis on clean architecture, modular design and maintainability Oversee release planning and coordination, ensuring smooth and reliable delivery cycles- Delivery Excellence: Lead the successful execution and delivery of multiple complex projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and client requirements.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for global stakeholders, fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Team Leadership: Direct and mentor delivery teams and delivery managers, promoting collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement technology delivery strategies to meet organizational goals and uplift in quality, speed of technology development, and production support outcomes.
- Partner with executive leadership to align technology roadmaps with business goals. Drive technical innovation and evaluate emerging technologies for business value
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify, assess, and address risks to ensure smooth project/program execution according to defined guidelines.
- Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and refine delivery frameworks and methodologies to enhance performance and scalability.
- Stakeholder Management: Maintain open and transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular project updates and reports.
- Financial Accountability: Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, and profitability, ensuring cost-effective delivery.
- Cost Optimization: Develop strategies to simplify technology delivery and reduce overall cost base by tracking year on year improvements in efficiencies.
Operational Management
- Oversee the execution of technology delivery across multiple cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
- Establish and promote best practices for delivery tracking, ensuring that teams have clear visibility into progress, velocity, and delivery risks.
- Act as a key interface between senior stakeholders, engineering teams, and delivery teams, ensuring that all parties are aligned on delivery priorities and roadmaps.
- Adhere to Agile, Scrum and DevOps best practices to deliver business requirements in timely fashion.
- Adherence to the organization’s quality standards to ensure that all work is handled Securely, Professionally and Diligently
- Measure continuous improvement through quality of the delivery demonstrating yearly improvement in metrics.
- Increase technology proficiency and knowledge within the Pensions domain removing our reliance on third parties for delivery and expertise (IP) of our systems.
- Collaborate with organization level departments to get necessary support for the team in terms of adequate resourcing, tools & licenses.
- Assist the leadership with regular business updates via Dashboards & presentations.
People Leadership
- Create Agile & DevOps Culture through strategy to train and coach resources to deliver in line with best practices.
- Manage and support delivery leaders and cross-functional teams working in a global delivery model.
- Ensure that skill levels and experience of the team is maintained up to date.
- Development of the team environment to ensure a robust, skilled and collaborative team, driving appropriate retention.
- Maintain and track team performance on consistent basis, also identify opportunities for career progression for staff.

Governance & Risk
- Reviewing IT processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and simplicity for the business and meet control objectives as set out ISO27001 and other financial industry regulation.

- Take a lead on the management of risk, dependencies and issues associated with tech delivery.

Experience & Personal Attributes
Experience
- Overall,12 years’ experience with minimum 8 years in team management, technology delivery and proven industry experience in leadership role preferably from Financial Services industry.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment using technologies like Dot Net, Azure Cloud, SQL, Automation & AI, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, Infrastructure as code, Data Warehouse, Appian, Python and PowerShell.
- Experience in resolving technical / functional complexities related to design, development, testing, releases, and support tasks.
- Proven experience leading teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience working in a Global Capability Centre (GCCs) set up, that involves interaction with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
