 We’re inviting applications for a PhD position under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme (MeitY, Govt. of India)!

Join our research group at the Department of Physics, IIT Ropar, and work on cutting-edge projects in quantum materials.

 Research Focus Areas:

• Growth & characterization of quantum materials

• Topological materials, altermagnets, and van der Waals materials

• Advanced synthesis techniques: arc melting, CVT, PVT, flux growth, Czochralski, etc.

• Study of physical properties: electrical & thermal transport, magnetization, specific heat, thermodynamic studies

 Eligibility:

• Strong background in physics, materials science, or related fields

• Interest in experimental condensed matter physics and quantum materials

 What we offer:

• Full-time PhD with fellowship for up to 5 years:

– ₹38,750/month (1st & 2nd year)

– ₹43,759/month (3rd–5th year)

• Opportunity for a 6-month visit to labs abroad (from 3rd year)

• Conference travel supports up to ₹2 lakh from the institute

• Additional support up to ₹1.5 lakh for selected international conferences (from 3rd year)

• Contingency research grant of ₹1.20 lakh/year per candidate

• Access to advanced facilities and a collaborative research environment
