Opentext Exstream Developer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled OpenText Exstream Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-volume, data-driven document solutions using the OpenText Exstream platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in document composition, customer communication management, and integrating Exstream solutions into enterprise environments. This role requires strong technical, analytical, and communication skills to deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions that meet business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement document solutions using OpenText Exstream for high-volume and on-demand applications.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and Exstream applications.
• Develop and maintain templates, forms, and communication workflows, including complex data mapping, page design, and output queues.
• Customize Exstream objects (messages, tables, frames) and configure print and assembly rules, barcodes, and variable data tags.
• Write and optimize formula variables, functions, and document/page triggering rules.
• Integrate with various data sources (XML, delimited files, JSON, columnar files) and output formats (PDF, AFP, Postscript).
• Support application packaging, deployment, debugging, and production support.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure solution quality and compliance.
• Document technical designs, workflows, and provide knowledge transfer to team members.
• Stay updated with Exstream platform upgrades and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience as an OpenText Exstream Developer, including hands-on experience with Exstream Dialogue and Exstream version 16x/20x/21x/23x123.
• Strong knowledge of page design, data mapping, output queues, flow tables, and PDF-pass through.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python) and Unix/Linux environments.
• Proficiency in integrating with databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and using CI/CD tools (Git, Bitbucket).
• Solid understanding of document composition, customer communication management, and print stream formats (PDF, AFP, Postscript).
• Experience in troubleshooting, debugging, and providing production support.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred/Additional Skills

• Experience with Exstream platform management and upgrades.
• Familiarity with Command Center, Communication Server, Communication Builder, CAAS, Design Manager, Content Author, Live Formats, and Empower2.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and process management tools (Jira, Kanban, SAFe).
• Experience in insurance, banking, or similar regulated industries is a plus.
• Prior experience mentoring junior developers or leading small teams.
