Role Overview

The Lead- Media Relations is involved in all aspects of media based communication strategies. 

Your Roles and Responsibilities

• Build relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch brand and corporate stories through social media outlets as appropriate
• Assist in the development and implementation of Brand PR programs to support brand building initiatives/innovation/corporate promotions
• Help oversee program execution from kick off through to completion
• Evaluate the effectiveness of media programs and communicate results back to clients/ stakeholders
• Lead responsibility for daily News Briefs processes
• Serve as the primary team resource during any client crisis/ issues management
• Researching, writing & disseminating press releases/industry reactions on policy decisions to target media
• Identifying & pitching stories to media; collating and analysing media coverage
• Creating & maintaining database/e-mail distribution lists of relevant media contacts countrywide
• Coordinate all public relations activities, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across channels
• Monitor, analyze, and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis, optimizing strategies for continuous improvement
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising

What You’ll Need (must haves for the role) :

• 8+ years of relevant work experience in a media or public relations role
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, PR or related field
• Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with strong writing and editorial abilities
• Event planning experience to coordinate successful PR-related activities
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, media monitoring software, and other public relation tools
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and trends and marketing practices
• A portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills and abilities

What Would Be Nice to Have

• Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, PR or related field
• Experience managing large account portfolios
• Freshly brewed coffee-making skills. But don't worry, we won't judge you for it.
