As a Global Commodity Expert at Siemens Energy in Bangalore, India, you will play a crucial role in defining and executing the commodity strategy, specifically focusing on supporting the Transformation of Industries business and Electrification, Automation, and Digitalization (EAD). Your responsibilities will include managing the commodity globally and cross-organizationally within Transformation of Industries, with a special emphasis on services such as Engineering, R&D, Installation, Construction, Maintenance, and Commissioning. You will act as a key interface to R&D, Cost-Value Engineering, Supplier Quality Development, and other procurement functions. Your typical day will involve reviewing and executing commodity strategies, negotiating with suppliers, managing supplier relationships, stakeholder management, reporting, supply chain risk mitigation, problem-solving, and participating in alignment meetings with internal and external cross-functional teams. You will work towards defining the commodity structure and supplier landscape, developing and implementing material productivity programs, and negotiating contracts to maximize savings and execute E-auctions. Your role will also involve identifying and mitigating procurement risks, opportunities, and market forces, building and maintaining relationships with major suppliers, as well as internal stakeholders to ensure the coverage of business needs. You will need to have a university degree in a technical or business-related field, 5-7 years of experience in procurement roles, strong negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and analytical abilities. Additionally, you should possess knowledge of procurement strategies, supply chain management, contract law, and export control.
