Role & responsibilities

The Senior ServiceNow Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, architecting, and implementing scalable, secure, and enterprise-grade solutions on the ServiceNow platform. This role leads end-to-end ServiceNow engagements including requirements discovery, process design, platform governance, solution architecture, integrations, and technical leadership across multiple implementation teams.

The architect acts as the primary technical authority for all ServiceNow modulesensuring alignment with business objectives, ITIL practices, and ServiceNow best-practice architecture.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Solution Design

Lead the architecture and design of ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, HRSD, SecOps, CSM, and custom applications.

Develop solution blueprints, data models, workflows, and integration designs.

Define platform governance, coding standards, and architectural guardrails.

Ensure reusability, modularity, performance optimization, and security.

2. Requirement Analysis & Process Consulting

Conduct detailed workshops with business and IT stakeholders.

Transform business requirements into scalable ServiceNow solutions.

Map process flows using ITIL, ITOM, ITAM, and workflow best practices.

Provide thought leadership on ServiceNow capabilities, limitations, and roadmap.

3. Platform Implementation & Delivery Leadership

Guide development teams on ServiceNow scripting, configuration, and customization.

Oversee complex workflows, automation, orchestration, and integrations.

Manage design reviews, code reviews, and quality checks.

Lead multi-module deployments and phased rollouts.

4. Integrations & Data Architecture

Architect integrations using:

REST/SOAP APIs

MID Server

IntegrationHub

Webhooks and automation tools

Define CMDB data model, CI class design, CI discovery/normalization strategy.

5. Governance, Security & Compliance

Establish platform governance frameworks including:

Update set strategy

Scoped app guidelines

Security roles

Data access policies

Instance strategy (Dev/Test/Prod)

Ensure compliance with SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, and security best practices.

6. Technical Leadership & Mentoring

Mentor ServiceNow developers, administrators, and junior architects.

Provide guidance on platform adoption, architecture decisions, and innovations.

Act as the escalation point for technical issues across delivery teams.

7. Stakeholder Management

Work with CIO, IT directors, product owners, and cross-functional business teams.

Present architectural recommendations and solution options.

Collaborate with ServiceNow product managers and internal governance boards.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

812+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years specifically in ServiceNow architecture.

Strong hands-on experience in:

ServiceNow ITSM, ITOM (Discovery, Event Mgmt, Orchestration)

CMDB & Asset Management

HRSD / SecOps / CSM (preferred)

Glide scripting (server/client scripts), Flow Designer, Business Rules

Scoped app development and custom apps

Expertise in ServiceNow integrations (REST, SOAP, MID Server, OAUTH, SSO).

Experience with automation tools – IntegrationHub, Orchestration, RPA (optional).

Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), APIs, JSON, and event-driven architectures.

Architecture & Frameworks

Strong understanding of ITIL v3/v4 processes.

Experience with enterprise architecture principles (TOGAF a plus).

Understanding of data modelling, governance, and enterprise security.

Preferred Certifications

ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)

ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM/ITOM/HRSD/CSM)

ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)

ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) – preferred

ITIL v4 Foundation or higher

TOGAF certification (optional but beneficial)
